In Loving Memory of Scott Beland

It is with profound sadness that we remember Scott Beland, 64, of White Plains, Maryland, whose life was tragically cut short on Friday, April 3, 2026. A beloved member of his community, Scott was known for his warm spirit, his kindness to friends and neighbors, and his love of motorcycles—a passion that brought him joy and freedom throughout his life.

On the evening of April 3, at approximately 7:49 PM, Scott was involved in a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Maryland Route 228 (Berry Road) and Bunker Hill Road in Waldorf, Maryland. According to authorities from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Scott was riding his 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle, following traffic signals, when a 2008 Infiniti G35 entered the intersection against a red light, colliding with his motorcycle. The Infiniti then struck a guardrail and fled the scene, leaving Scott fatally injured. Emergency personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Scott’s loss leaves a hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and community. He was a devoted family member, a loyal friend, and a passionate motorcyclist whose love for the open road and camaraderie with fellow riders will not be forgotten. Those who knew Scott remember his generosity, his laughter, and the countless moments he spent making others feel valued and appreciated.

Authorities are actively seeking the public’s help in identifying the occupants of the Infiniti involved in the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sergeant J. Zimmerman of the MSP CRASH Team at (301) 392-1231 or via email at justin.zimmerman@maryland.gov. The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the State’s Attorney’s Office for Charles County for potential charges.

As we mourn Scott’s passing, his family asks that the public respect their privacy during this difficult time. While this tragedy is being investigated, Scott’s memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, in the laughter he shared, and in the roads he rode with pride and joy.

Scott Beland’s life was a testament to living fully and with heart. In remembering him, we honor not only the life he led but also the legacy of love, friendship, and kindness he leaves behind.
