Haughton Man Preston Workman Killed in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash on Sligo Road

A tragic motorcycle crash has claimed the life of Preston Workman, 43, of Haughton, Louisiana, leaving a community mourning and a loved one injured in the aftermath of a devastating early morning incident.

According to Louisiana State Police Troopers from Troop G, the crash occurred around 1 a.m. on Sligo Road near Mayflower Road. Authorities responded to the scene where they discovered a serious single-motorcycle accident that would soon be confirmed as fatal.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Preston Workman was operating a 2025 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on Sligo Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed the centerline. Troopers reported that the motorcycle then struck an uneven section of the shoulder, causing it to overturn.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Workman sustained severe injuries in the crash and was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. His sudden passing has left family, friends, and the Haughton community grieving a life lost too soon.

A passenger who was also on the motorcycle and wearing a helmet survived the crash but suffered serious injuries. The individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment and continues to receive medical care.

At this time, investigators have not determined whether impairment played a role in the crash. As part of standard procedure, toxicology samples were collected and will be analyzed to help piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash in an effort to fully understand what led to this heartbreaking event.

Preston Workman is remembered not for the tragic way his life ended, but for the life he lived — the memories he created, the relationships he built, and the impact he had on those around him. His loss leaves an undeniable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

As the investigation continues, thoughts and prayers remain with his family, friends, and the injured passenger during this incredibly difficult time as they face both grief and recovery.
