A deeply disturbing case out of Tulsa has led to the arrest of Willie Escobar, who is accused in the tragic killing of his wife, Karla Gramajo-Cabrera, whose body was later discovered concealed near Mohawk Park.
According to Tulsa Police, the investigation began after Karla Gramajo-Cabrera was reported missing by her sister, prompting immediate concern. Detectives quickly uncovered troubling signs during the early stages of the investigation, including indications of past domestic violence and what they described as suspicious behavior by Escobar.
While officers were actively working the case—interviewing family members and examining the couple’s home—Fugitive Warrants Detectives observed Escobar leaving the residence with the couple’s three young children. Authorities discreetly followed him to Woodland Hills Mall, where he spent time with the children at a playground. Once he returned to his vehicle with them, officers moved in and took Escobar into custody without incident, ensuring the children’s safety in the process.
During questioning, police say Escobar confessed to the killing. According to investigators, he admitted that on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, he strangled Karla inside their home following an argument in which he claimed she insulted him. Authorities also revealed that the couple’s 17-year-old son was asleep in another room at the time of the incident, unaware of the violence taking place.
Following the killing, Escobar reportedly placed Karla’s body in a vehicle and drove around before ultimately disposing of her remains. Initially, he was unable to provide detectives with a clear location. However, through the use of phone data analysis and continued questioning, investigators were led to an area near 7000 N. Pittsburgh Avenue, close to Mohawk Park.
Police say that after nearly two hours of searching the area—with Escobar assisting them—Karla Gramajo-Cabrera’s body was located just off the roadway, hidden beneath a mattress in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.
The discovery brought a heartbreaking end to the search and confirmed the worst fears of her loved ones. What began as a missing person case quickly turned into a homicide investigation, leaving a family and community grappling with grief and shock.
Willie Escobar has since been booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Authorities have also placed an ICE hold on him. Officials emphasize that this is an arrest and not a conviction, and the case will proceed through the legal system.
This tragic incident underscores the devastating impact of domestic violence and the importance of recognizing warning signs before situations escalate. As the investigation continues, many are left mourning the loss of Karla Gramajo-Cabrera while seeking justice for her life so tragically taken.
