CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — The community is mourning the loss of Daniel Omarion Carter, 23, of Pageland, and reflecting on the tragic circumstances surrounding the case involving Reggie Martavious Ivey, 27, of Pageland, originally from Monroe, North Carolina, following a devastating shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of April 13, 2026.
According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Pageland area around 7:45 a.m. after reports of a shooting. When first responders arrived, they found Carter suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately rushed for medical treatment, but despite all efforts to save his life, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities say the investigation moved quickly as detectives worked tirelessly to identify those responsible. Within a short time, investigators developed Reggie Martavious Ivey as the suspect in the deadly shooting. A murder warrant was issued after evidence linked him to the incident, and it was determined that he had fled the area shortly after the shooting.
Law enforcement agencies worked together across jurisdictions to locate him. The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the Monroe Police Department, providing key suspect and vehicle information that helped move the case forward. Using Flock Safety license plate reader technology, officers were able to track the suspect vehicle to the Icemorlee Apartment Complex in Monroe.
With the assistance of the Monroe Police Department Special Response Team and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, officers conducted a coordinated operation. Around 12:00 p.m., the suspect was located inside the vehicle and taken into custody without incident.
Reggie Martavious Ivey has since been arrested on an outstanding murder warrant, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues.
Sheriff Cambo Streater expressed condolences on behalf of the department, saying:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Daniel Carter during this difficult time. We are committed to ensuring justice is served and holding those responsible accountable.”
As the investigation continues, authorities have extended their gratitude to assisting agencies for their swift response and cooperation in safely bringing the suspect into custody.
Daniel Carter is being remembered by loved ones as a young man whose life held promise and potential, taken far too soon. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of family, friends, and the Pageland community.
