DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — In loving memory of Lauren Bullis, 40, whose life was tragically taken during a series of violent and senseless attacks that unfolded across multiple locations early Monday morning, leaving a community shaken and searching for answers.
Authorities have confirmed that Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a 26-year-old man from Atlanta, has been taken into custody in connection with the incidents, which include two homicides and a separate shooting. He was apprehended in Troup County after investigators used Flock camera technology to track a rental vehicle believed to be tied to the attacks. He remains in custody and is currently being questioned as the investigation continues.
According to the DeKalb County Police Department, Lauren Bullis was killed on Battle Forest Drive in a brutal and unprovoked attack. Investigators say she was walking her dog, as she did routinely each morning, when an unknown man approached and opened fire, striking her multiple times.
Authorities further revealed that the suspect allegedly attempted to assault her as she lay injured. A nearby resident who witnessed the horrifying scene rushed outside and began screaming for help, urging family members to call 911, which led to a rapid emergency response. Despite those efforts, Bullis succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Less than an hour earlier, at approximately 1:59 a.m., police in Brookhaven responded to another shooting outside a Kroger store along Peachtree Road. One individual was injured in that incident. Officials have stated there is no known connection between that victim and the suspect, leading investigators to believe the attack may have been random.
The violence escalated again around 6:50 a.m. when officers responded to reports of another shooting in Decatur. There, they discovered a second woman suffering from multiple gunshot and stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe she, like Bullis, was attacked without warning while simply going about her routine.
Investigators have since linked all three incidents, describing them as part of a single, ongoing investigation. Officials have indicated that the attacks may have involved random targeting, raising serious concerns about the safety of individuals, particularly those in vulnerable situations.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are now working together to determine a motive and piece together the timeline of events that led to these tragic outcomes. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active, and additional information may be released as the suspect continues to be interviewed.
Lauren Bullis is being remembered as someone whose life was taken far too soon in an act of unimaginable violence. What began as a simple morning walk turned into a tragedy that has deeply impacted her loved ones and the wider community.
As residents process the shock of these events, they are being urged to remain vigilant and to report any information that could assist investigators. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the DeKalb County Police Department’s mobile app or by texting “DKPD” to 847411.
While the investigation continues and justice is pursued, the memory of Lauren Bullis lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
May she rest in peace.
