Danville Police Investigate Deadly Arlington Road Shooting That Leaves One Man Dead and Four Others Injured

DANVILLE, Va. — The Danville Police Department is actively investigating a late-night shooting that claimed the life of 34-year-old Christopher Darnell Moore of Danville, following a violent incident that also left four others injured.

On April 18, 2026, at approximately 11:36 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 700 block of Arlington Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered Christopher Darnell Moore lying in a driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders immediately began lifesaving efforts at the scene before transporting him to SOVAH Danville Emergency Room. Despite medical intervention, Moore later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

As officers were responding to the scene, four additional individuals arrived at SOVAH Danville Emergency Room in private vehicles, all suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities confirmed that their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. The injured victims include a 48-year-old male, a 33-year-old male, a 25-year-old female, and an 18-year-old female, all residents of Danville.

Preliminary findings indicate that the shooting occurred during a large gathering at a residence in the 700 block of Arlington Road. Investigators believe that multiple shots were fired during the gathering, resulting in all five individuals being struck by gunfire at the same location. Authorities have stated that this incident was not random, suggesting that those involved may have been specifically targeted or connected in some way.

The case remains an active and ongoing criminal investigation as detectives work to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting, identify those responsible, and establish a motive.
