In Loving Memory of Randy Charles Bloom: Life Lost in Tragic Highway 30 Collision in Columbia County

With heavy hearts, we share the tragic loss of Randy Charles Bloom, 62, of Scappoose, Oregon, who lost his life in a devastating two-vehicle crash on the evening of April 12, 2026, in Columbia County.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:06 p.m. along Highway 30 near milepost 48, close to Rainier. According to authorities, the crash involved a gray Subaru Outback and a red Ford Focus in a head-on collision that left a lasting mark on the community and all those affected.

Randy Bloom was driving the Ford Focus at the time of the crash. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, he was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. His passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, and the community that knew and loved him. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived but for the connections he made and the memories he leaves behind.

Also in the vehicle was Shana Jean Bloom, 59, of Scappoose, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. She continues to fight through recovery, surrounded by thoughts, prayers, and support from loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

The driver of the Subaru, Ronald Craig Powers, 69, of Longview, Washington, was also seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital for urgent medical care. The cause of the crash remains under investigation as authorities work to understand what led to this tragic event.

The highway was closed for several hours as first responders worked tirelessly at the scene. Agencies including the Rainier Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia River Fire and Rescue, and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted in the response and investigation.
