FAIRHAVEN TOWNSHIP, Minn. — The community is mourning the tragic loss of 56-year-old Tina Timmers of St. Augusta, who was killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday evening at the intersection of County Road 7 and County Road 44 near Fairhaven Township.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene at approximately 7:20 p.m. following reports of a serious collision involving an SUV and a pickup truck. When first responders arrived, they found that an SUV traveling westbound on County Road 44, driven by 16-year-old Gavin Timmers of St. Augusta, had entered the intersection controlled by stop signs for westbound traffic and collided with a northbound pickup truck driven by 42-year-old Katie Payne of Maple Lake.
Authorities said the impact of the collision caused the SUV to roll, resulting in a chaotic and severe crash scene that left multiple occupants injured.
Tragically, Tina Timmers, who was a passenger in the SUV, died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders. Her sudden passing has left family members and the St. Augusta community in deep shock and mourning.
Officials confirmed that Gavin Timmers, Katie Payne, and five additional passengers ranging in age from 15 to 79, who were riding in both vehicles, were transported to St. Cloud Hospital. They sustained a variety of injuries, though the full extent of their conditions has not been publicly released.
Investigators remained on scene for several hours as they worked to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash. Authorities are continuing to examine factors that may have contributed to the collision, including vehicle movement, roadway conditions, and right-of-way at the intersection.
